BIOGRAFI

1855: Født den 8. oktober i New York som søn af Francis Henry Saltus og Eliza Howe Evertson, begge af hollandsk afstamning.

1862: Brud mellem forældrene, hvorefter Saltus vokser op hos moderen.

1876-1877: Optagelse på Yale College, studiet fuldføres ikke.

1878: Indskrivelse på Columbia Law School.

1880: Beståelse af juridisk grad (LL.B.).

1883: Vielse den 28. november med Helen Sturgis Read.

1891: Skilsmisse med Helen Sturgis Read.

1895: Vielse den 8. oktober ved den engelske ambassades kirke i Paris med Elsie Welch Smith, med hvem Saltus får datteren Elsie.

1901: Brud med Elsie Welch Smith, ægteskabet opløses formelt i 1911.

1911: Vielse den 16. august med forfatteren Marie Flores Giles, som senere omvender Saltus til teosofi og efter hans død skriver hans biografi.

1913–1919: En periode med svigtende helbred afbryder Saltus' forfatterskab.

31. juli 1921: Saltus dør i New York efter længere tids sygdom.
